The Adolescent Program

What makes a Montessori High school different?

Student Centered Goals

Students work with an advisor and administrators to create an academic plan, which will include work in the community, foreign language, and electives.

Cooperative Learning

Students work in partnership with their peers, outside experts and guides to meet their academic goals.

Microeconomy

High school students participate in an economic activity of their interest such as growing vegetables for a farmers market or making crafts to sell in the community.

Experts in the community

Students learn academic and vocational skills in partnership with experts outside of AMHS staff. These include foreign language, advanced subjects and professional trades.

Practical Skills

AMHS provides students with opportunities to learn about financial literacy, media and physical health and interpersonal communication.

Preparation for Adulthood

Our students are on their way to adulthood, and we want to give them the skills and confidence to enter their next phase, including higher learning or trade/vocational school.
